It’s been a while since we’ve written a blog post. I know we all know how busy life can get, especially when running a business, maintaining relationships and trying to keep a solid head on your shoulders ha! Well, we’re back again and here to stay. There are so many wonderful things to write about in this beautiful world of weddings and florals, and we want to be a resource to all the brides and florists out there with the lessons we’ve learned over the years.
Today I wanted to take a quick minute and talk about color. We’ve done a whole lotta weddings this year and some of them had a whole lotta color! One of my favorite things about doing florals for weddings is that each couple is so different and I love the challenge of incorporating their personal style into a timeless floral design. Here are three guideposts I use to create something unique yet still something that will stand the test of time.
keep it natural.
Nature really is the greatest source of inspiration. Sometimes just taking a drive down the road, I’m amazed how all the tones of leaves seem to melt into one another. When choosing a design, use mother nature as a guide. She has never let us down.
keep it cohesive.
What makes or breaks a wedding with color is how well the palette flows. If you’re using a certain color make sure the other TONES and SHADES go really well together. For example, there are literally hundreds of shades of red. Some of them look like unharmonized choir together lol. It takes intentionality and planning to orchestrate a cohesive color palette (and design) but the result is so worth it.
stay true to yourself above the trends.
There are so many beautiful trends out there right now. It’s hard not to fall in love with more than one. When choosing to incorporate themes make sure they’re in line with the kinds of things that are true to who you are. For example, if you love classic music, architecture etc. you won’t regret choosing a style that further express that. It takes a while to figure out how to express your personal style but with a great wedding planner, it’s fun and also so worth it in the end.
I hope these tips are helpful! Would love to hear your thoughts in the comments. And if you have any questions, never hesitate to send us an e-mail and we’d be more than happy to answer any questions we can. Happy planning and thanks for taking the time to read this blog.
